Been a really busy

David Jennings · May 26, 2006 · 2 Comments

week, seems to have flown by. Not sure I’ve accomplished an awful lot this week but I am starting to feel better, so thats one positive. Lots of other positives this week too. First is that it sure feels good to be busy at work. I’m coming up on one year here and still haven’t gotten used to the cyclical nature of the business, so after the long (to me) slack period, doing something feels good! And then there’s visitation from Tuesday, I wouldn’t say it was great, as only one was home, but it felt good to get out there. And on Wednesday, I played the guitar with ol’ Charlie before church. His rythmn is even worse than mine, the longer the song is, the faster he goes! Have I mentioned that when I get my new kind of body in heaven, I will have the rythmn of MC Hammer and the voice of Vince Gill? Well, I am. Also saw SSh for the second Wednesday in a row.

SU and I had a great time on our regular Thursday night date. It always feels good to be with the prettiest girl in the world, you know what i mean? Reminds me of the great life that I have, in case I were to forget.

Been listening to a lot of Outlaw Country music lately. I think this is where the action is for new sounds of my generation. Today’s rock is overproduced and boring, pop is, well, pop, hip hop is nasty and Christian music offers some new things but still has a lot of copycat stuff. Heard one again today that I really like, We Can’t Make it Here. Read that it was the new protest song for all who want to protest. Don’t know about that, but it will make you think. Check out these lines:

Should I hate a people for the shade of their skin

Or the shape of their eyes or the shape I’m in

Should I hate ‘em for having our jobs today

No I hate the men sent the jobs away

I can see them all now, they haunt my dreams

All lily white and squeaky clean

They’ve never known want, they’ll never know need

Their shit don’t stink and their kids won’t bleed

Their kids won’t bleed in their damn little war

And we can’t make it here anymore

[…] Funny thing is, I mentioned previously about the futility of this war, in the protest vein. And I’m not even in the same stratosphere as Cindy Sheehan, et all. I just know that the Shrub, in his quest for power, has used Christianity in vain. Not an easy thing to say, of course, but to me, it must be said. I truly believe that the President of the U. S. used my faith as a tool to gain power. Sucks, yes. What more can I say? […]
