again. Mrs. Jean Ratliff passed away today, 6/2/05. What a fight! What an example!
Â
For FIVE years, Jean fought the battle. For herself, Fred and all of those around her. She is one of those that push the median up. Never gave up no matter how poorly she felt.
Â
I learned today that Sister Cherry is now fighting the big C. Brother Daniel is already in armor. My mom went down the same road.
Â
Life is fleeting. Why do we not live it fully every day? I fully realize that we have obligations to those close to us but, even then, can we not push the envelope? Must we be relegated to sitting on the couch with a remote in hand?
Â
God is so good. He wants us to enjoy our life fully. If I have learned nothing else from reading the Bible, that is it. Live life TODAY. God is in charge and He has given us TODAY.

When you discover why we don’t enjoy life to the fullest, write a book…it will be on the New York Times List as #1 before the ink dries on the first copy!
Susan says
“Live every moment of every day as if it were the last and you’ll never have regrets or be fill with the “would have, should have, could have.”
I read that somewhere and wondered if that person had lived their life that way.

Sometimes we ARE living fully even when we have the remote in our hand…our way of life…searching for a program that defines full living…Oprah’s reading club suggests reading Faulkner this summer…in fact, she stated that one is not truly a reader until one reads Faulkner…Faulkner writes about life…read any good Faulkner’s lately?

I don’t understand how life could be fulfilling by using a remote to watch other people DO. It is a 2 dimensional view of the world, never allowing you to understand the depth of society. Or to understand how the other senses interact with the mind to create a complete experience. I’ve noticed profound changes in my perceptions of people and circumstance during those periods (sometimes years, as now) when I do not have a television in my face, calling me to it’s never ending voyerism. I find that people are very complex beings and you cannot simply change the channel, push the mute button or turn off the power. You must face them and deal with them. Much more exciting, interesting and challenging, for me.
I’m not much of an Oprah fan, so I don’t hear much about her book club. About the only thing I know is that it allows her to make a mint (as if she needs another mint) and gives her the ability to influence best seller lists. Not a bad thing in a free market society, I suppose, just not something I would follow.
Read any good Dekker lately?
