Of course, it helped that JM was back on the guitar, guess I didn’t realize how much I missed the company up there. It was fun. And I thought our discussion went very well, even if I did most of the talking. Not all by any means, the guys seemed to click on the topic of peace and entering into God’s rest. Cool stuff.
Found out when I arrived at the church that one of our long time members had passed away the previous week at the age of 78. Must admit I was pretty peeved that no one bothered to tell me or SU about it. Her funeral was mid-afternoon, so we changed up our routine and didn’t go to lunch with Pop. The funeral was really nice and very well attended. Says a lot about the woman, we will miss her spirit.
After the funeral one of my class members (CMc) told me that the brother of another class member (SH) had been rushed to the hospital that morning for emergency surgery. So, after I went home and changed, I hopped on the Marauder and went to visit him. He grew up with us in the church but it had been 20+ years since I had last talked to him. Funny how you can recognize people after that many years, even with the changes that naturally occur. Maybe it is the eyes. At any rate, I had a nice visit, stayed way longer than I normally do for such things. Met his wife and son, seems like a real nice family. They haven’t quite figured out what is wrong with him, it’s looking like a kinda rare mass, sorta like the one LH had at my last job.
After that, I rode to church and got there early. That was nice though because I had a chance to visit with a lot of different people. I’m really in a nice groove right now at church, just enjoying the heck out of it, enjoying the people.
All in all, put another 40 miles on, getting ready for the big Pickett House run. Can’t wait.
