class today! Excellent comments from the guys, the topic was respecting the elderly. We ran a gamut of perspectives, ranging from euthanasia, living wills, American culture and family relations. One of the guys had an especially insightful comment, could it be that the erosion of esteem and respect for our elderly in America has to do with the robust economic and military growth that our nation has had in its’ two hundred twenty five plus years of existence? Very interesting if you think about it that way, which I never have.
Some of the guys got real emotional when discussing their relationships with their fathers and sons. So many times I’ve thought that perhaps we needed to go with the flow and change to a couples or singles format for the sake of the church. Today reminds me that we are very blessed to be able to reach out and share our whole selves with Christian men, free to be open and share in our emotions. Cool stuff.

It was a very good lesson. We talked about how some of the older people in our church still contribute in one way or another and how we should try to reach out to them and help whether it be to take them to the store of just to listen to what they have to say.
