I’m not sure why it is

David Jennings · March 29, 2007 · 3 Comments

but there is something appealing to us about the Battlestar Galactica series. We had another marathon session last night, watching 4 episodes! That is about 3 hours of television, more than I’ve watched in 5 years or so. It’s a fascinating show with many plot lines running at the same time, religious undertones and philosophical overtones.

Zeus has decided that he is going to use his kennel for a restroom. Not sure what that’s about, I know I haven’t spent enough time with him but geez, he’s a freaking dog! At some point he’s going to learn who the king of the crib is or I’ll be begging someone to take the 110 lb puffwheat.

Idiot James Dobson is at it again. SU hates it when I say that because he was such a help to her raising the kids when I was out and about. But just as some are addicted to drugs, Mr. Dobson is addicted to his perceived power and influence. He’s now decided that he can sit in judgement of exactly who is a Christian.

He said that, while Dobson didn’t believe Thompson to be a member of a non-Christian faith, Dobson nevertheless “has never known Thompson to be a committed Christian—someone who talks openly about his faith.”

You know what I’m gong to do? I’m going to vote against anyone that seeks Dobson’s blessing. As for Fred Thompson, he should have told Dobson to go fly a kite, to put it mildly. Makes me wonder if he has the ‘nads everyone says he does.

Matthew 23:23 “Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You give a tenth of mint, dill, and cumin, yet you neglect what is more important in the law – justice, mercy, and faithfulness! You should have done these things without neglecting the others. 23:24 Blind guides! You strain out a gnat yet swallow a camel!

23:25 “Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 23:26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside may become clean too!

23:27 “Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs that look beautiful on the outside but inside are full of the bones of the dead and of everything unclean. 23:28 In the same way, on the outside you look righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

That comment shocked me – but in his defense (I really don’t know who Dobson is) I would like to see the whole conversation and the context

    Just me being suspicious

I wanted to stop by to say Hi.
I wanted to put in my two cents. My first thought, which by the way I usually trust, was who the HECK is this man saying whether Fred Thompson is a Christian or not.

    Eric,

You know who Dobson is. He’s the whiney guy who had the big feud with Dick Armey. Google around for Dick Armey/James Dobson a bit and you’ll find plenty references to it. At any rate, it’s always nice to see things in context, but (even religious issues aside) I have to agree with BigJolly’s assessment of Dobson as an idiot. Compassionate conservatism was nothing more than a failed short-term political strategy. It had nothing to do with compassion and nothing to do with conservatism. Here’s some good reading material for you:
