It was a really long day

David Jennings · September 23, 2007 · 3 Comments

yesterday but overall very good. Left the house at 6 am, returned late in the day. Rode the Marauder, went from cold in the morning to burning hot in the afternoon. Can’t believe how hot it got yesterday.

Had a great weekly Bible study recap at LB’s. He had breakfast cooked, the real deal, eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy. Most excellent. CH arrived out of breath, his truck wouldn’t start so he borrowed his son’s bicycle and hoofed it on over. Now that’s dedication.

We all agreed it was a nice study. As I sat there observing them, it occurred to me that the power of the Word is real and alive. Amazing changes are taking place and I certainly include myself in that.

Left LB’s around 8 to head down to Texas City for the funeral of Sgt. Omar Mora. When will this end? It’s hard not to keep politics out of this one, as he was one of the soldiers that wrote an op-ed in the NY Times calling our presence there an occupation and saying it was futile. I’ll write more about that later but it should be pointed out that Sgt. Mora received his citizenship papers two weeks before his death. The funeral was in both English and Spanish.

I was so tired when I got home that I crashed after eating a couple of sandwiches that SU prepared. It was a long, long day and coupled with the heat, I was toast. It’s hard getting old.

Must say that I was disappointed when I checked the website. Why people choose to act like that is beyond my comprehension. Some people just never grow out of that pre-pubescent period, I guess.

Today’s lesson should be thought provoking if nothing else. We’ll be discussing sin, the consequences of it in our lives and what happens when we cleanse ourselves. SU is focusing on joy and if I were a teacher, I would too. There is little joy in most people’s lives these days, at least that is the conclusion I draw from observing their actions.

Whatever may come into my life, no one is going to steal my joy.

At the risk of blog-pimping, I’d like you to let me know what you think of my latest post:

I think God is leading me somewhere, and I’m trying to nail that down a bit…
