during our trip to Taos was an Earthship subdivision. Remarkable thing to come across in the desert! Very weird. Here is a link to the main website for them: Earthship Biotecture

I guess the selling point is that you are totally self-sustained and they have come close to acheiving that from what I read, saw and talked to the locals about. Still some problems with water collection (quantity) and waste (as in human compost – yuk). But, cool none the less. The round glass things are actually bottles inverted to collect light and they also work as a part of the water system. Of course, it was quite interesting to see the Hummer stretch limo parked out in front of one!
