Things are moving

David Jennings · June 29, 2005 · 4 Comments

right along. Enjoying the new hours A LOT! Still cooking the evening meal, haven’t lost that enthusiasm just yet. My training at the new job is coming along just fine, no hiccups just yet. Several safety things I need to address fairly quickly, but nothing like the last job. Different universe, both in complexity and resources. I think that each employee you are responsible for adds an order of magnitude to your overall responsibility. Not a problem at the new place.

Church was ok tonight. Mike was talking about the changing vocabulary of the modern church. As in, don’t use the terms saved, born again, second coming or Jesus, if you want to be in the mainstream. He’s right of course.

Didn’t get to practice with JM tonight, apparently he got a new toy and decided to ignore the government’s warnings. That’ll teach him!

I am shocked that Mike is becoming so main stream he is going to eliminate terms such as saved, born again, second coming or Jesus! Is he still a Baptist? What verbiage will he use to preach salvation? Redemption? Taking out Jesus is a new one…bet Dad is heartsick…perhaps he will remain with the Mexican baptists!

bj, glad you said that. I was just coming in to comment on Sharon’s comment. Auntie Sharon, I do believe you misread the statement. This is not the first time Bro Mike has talked about the changing language and other things of the CHURCH. He always talks about how other churches or evangelists are changing their styles, trying to be more mainstreamed to bring in people, but that style is NOT for him or our church. Mike wants everyone to know that our church is a Bible-based, Jesus-believin’, born again church looking forward to the second coming!

Whew!! Thanks to both for the clarification! I just could not believe what I was reading! In particular I was picturing Dad with his veins popping out from the fury he would be feeling!
I am glad that Monument will continue to be a Bible church where Jesus saves so we can be born again and experience the second coming!
