SU and I had. Of course, there may be other couples that think staying home, eating leftover chili and watching To Kill A Mockingbird is lacking in the romance department but they just don’t understand the pull a warm trailer has over a cold, crowded restaurant.
What a good movie. I thought I had seen it many years ago but I think I only read the book. Very powerful and the good guy doesn’t win, which is very much like life. But even in defeat, he is able to hold onto his ideals and change hearts in this cruel world. Awesome stuff. I can’t imagine not striking out at a drunk filthy piece of white trash spitting in my face for defending the defenseless. It is so easy to get caught up in the hystera and to side with the mob. It takes a person of great character and ideals to withstand the pressure.
Went to a taxpayer rally yesterday and no one showed up. I think that people like to scream and shout on the internet but when it comes right down to it, as long as they can pay their cable bill, they don’t care about taxes. It is far easier to type in all caps and call politicians crooks and liars than it is to get in your car, drive downtown and stand out in the cold. Just my two cents.

That was our sermon on Valentine’s….stand firm, stand up, stand out…for what you believe. That is when you see lives changed!

One of my favorite movies. Always wondered what happened to the actors, other than Peck and Duvall. Particularly the kids. I thought they were excellent in this movie. Did a little googling on ’em. Mary Badham (Scout) was nominated for an Oscar and lost to Patty Duke in “The Miracle Worker”. She’s an art restorer. Phillip Alford (Jem) did a few more movies and is a successful businessman in Birmingham, Alabama. John Megna (Dill) stayed in the business but died of AIDS in 1995. He was Connie Stevens half-brother. And there’s my bit of mindless trivia for the day.

On the dvd, they have interviews with Scout and Jem that are pretty interesting. Which one was Dill?

“eating leftover chili”
MMMMM…… Even better leftover! Makes even better frito pie!

Have to agree on that one. As well as gumbo and stew. Something about the flavors mixing. I’ve come to the conclusion that I am the best maker of chili in the whole wide world – dang I’m good. But I can never duplicate it because I never measure or use the same ingredients! Whatever is in the cabinet/refrigerator gets tossed in. I think the secret in this batch was a half bottle of jalapeno sauce that had been in their for a veeerrryy long time.

Dill was the weird little next-door-neighbor kid that spent the summers with his Aunt.
Bigjolly says
I swear I remember that kid from other movies or something. Wierd looking dude.
hamous says
I remember him in a Star Trek episode.

Man, that fits.
