Watched an interesting

David Jennings · March 2, 2007 · 1 Comment

contemporary movie last night, Flyboys. About some Americans that went over to France to learn to fly planes and fly them against the Germans. I didn’t know that we had men do that. It was an okay movie, a bit slow from time to time but fairly entertaining. Wish I knew more of the history of it though.

That was after a nice evening at our remote kitchen. SU was a little tired after dealing with one of her hospitals in the North Forty, so we sat a little longer than usual. Sometimes she surprises me even after all these years, this time it was about one of the comments over at LST. I have to admit it was pretty funny.

Now, to anyone who doesn’t believe in the workings of the Holy Spirit, just let me repeat, never, ever doubt it. Sitting at home and the phone rings, it’s a guy from my class, just calling to check on me because I was on his mind. Coincidence? Yeah, right. What a blessing it was to receive that call at that time. Sweet. Thank you Lord.

Watched flyboys the other night. I kinda liked it. There aren’t too many films about WWI and not many at all about WWI aviation. Two more I can think of are The Blue Max (George Peppard 1966) and Aces High (Malcom McDowell 1976). There was a movie that came out several years ago with Rick Schroeder (yeah, that guy) called The Lost Battalion, not aviation. It was a pretty good flick and you could let the kids watch it.

If you like war movies, here’s a website for you. They have everything!
