the dust. And it was a good one, even if the rain just kept coming and coming and coming. Even today it rained. We are going to float away, right on down the river.
Class was cool. Had some fun in the group setting, then a very good discussion during class. We have just started six weeks of studying how believers fall, some tips on preventing it and then restoring those that do. Should be interesting if this morning was any indication.
One of the guys told a story about his week and how quick Satan is to attack. Day 3 of our material focused on sexual seduction, obviously a very powerful type of seduction for a man. He relayed how he studied the material and thought okay, I got it. As he’s pulling out of his driveway, he’s pumped thinking that he’s on the right road, what a study. Gets to the stop sign at the end of his street, still with a smile. Turns left to go out of the subdivision and what does he see?
One of the neighborhood babes out working in the yard wearing a tank top and daisy dukes. Bent over pulling weeds. He says obviously her knees didn’t work because her legs were straight and her butt was sticking straight up at him. He says, man Satan works fast! Had to laugh at that one.
Had a guest speaker today, the pastor is on vacation. He used passages in Ecclesiastes about Solomon’s search for truth. Long and winding but he actually made it work at the end by going full circle, talking about how God chastised Solomon for knowing what to do but not doing it. I think that is true of many believers, we know what to do but rarely do it.
Lunch w/Pop at Dinner Bell again. He seemed extra lonely today, not sure why. SU and I are going to drive him over to Louisiana to see his brother soon; he talked about needing to do that.
After that, I popped into LST for a bit and lo and behold, the children were arguing back and forth. Goodness that place reminds me of kindergarten some days.
Back to church this evening, one of our newer members talked. He’s pushing 80 at least and cracks me. The joy that man has is unreal. He delivered a thoughtful message about religion, how we get twisted and tied up in it, the polar opposite of why Christ came. Nice.
After that, had coffee with CH and LB to discuss our upcoming Bible study. We are going to meet next Saturday for breakfast to go over the first week. CH works the standard shift work schedule, so we’ll be flexible to that. He’s trying, he’s really trying. I hope that he can make it to a point where he can release his burdens and trust God to take care of him.
