It has been quite awhile since I put up a vocabulary word. It just so happens that I came across a good one, one that links with other ideas I’ve been toying with. Recall that I’ve been exploring sin, salvation, love and other spiritual things lately. In the course of my readings, I was given a book by 1 called “The Ragamuffin Gospel” and like it very much. Well, as with anything positive, there will be those who don’ t like it or claim that their version of life is correct to the chagrin of those with whom it rings a bell. Whilst reading through some of the negative drivel, I stumbled upon a word that I hadn’t seen before or at least don’t recall. So, straight from Answers.com, here we go:
an·ti·no·mi·an·ism (ăn‘tÄ-nÅ‘mÄ“-É™-nÄz‘É™m)
n.
- Theology.
The doctrine or belief that the Gospel frees Christians from required
obedience to any law, whether scriptural, civil, or moral, and that
salvation is attained solely through faith and the gift of divine grace. - The belief that moral laws are relative in meaning and application as opposed to fixed or universal.
It seems as though quite a few people view Mr. Manning’s work as heretical. I recoil everytime I see someone comment on something that is heretical. Makes me very wary of the person making the comment.
More later, perhaps.
