The Man God Uses: Moved from the Ordinary to the Extraordinary
I think a more appropriate title would have been the role of belief. I didn’t find any reference to prayer in the study! Interesting.
Blackaby used the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the grave to illustrate the necessity to believe. When Martha expressed her concern about the smell and decay that would be in Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus said:
John 11:40 Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see the glory of God?”
Sometimes, we must wait to see God at work, just as Mary and Martha had to wait when Jesus delayed going to Lazarus until after he had passed away. I feel like that right now, as though I’m waiting for something glorious that God is going to do in mine and SU’s lives. No idea what that is but I feel certain that it will happen.
The last part of the study dealt with obedience.
John 14:15 “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.
Blackaby added a single word to this that brings out the meaning.
John 14:15 “If you love me, you will automatically obey my commandments.
CH has said many times that is what he wants to happen in his life, that he automatically chooses to obey God. That is why we are doing these studies, so that we will automatically follow God without even hesitating. Why? Because that will show our true love, expanding our relationship with God, allowing Him to control us, use us and prosper us in ways that we cannot fathom!
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the Lord. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.
