yesterday! Wow, what awesome weather! I decided when I left work that I was going to ride the Marauder come no matter what. I’d spent a lot of time yesterday stretching the back and walking around the plant.
So off I went. Over the big bridge to Baytown, that was an experience! I’m so, so glad I put the windshield on. Major difference. Hadn’t ridden much since the backache, so I was a little nervous. No time to be nervous on that bridge however. The crosswinds, the big truck vacuums, the debris flying about, I must tell you that it wasn’t such a great ride. Of course, most of that was just plain nervousness from a lack of experience. I made it over the bridge and actually felt a sense of accomplishment. One thing is clear, my senses are definitely heightened, as is my driving safety awareness.
Anyways, made it to the bank in good shape and with more confidence. The ride back over the bridge was much easier, as in been there and done that. Took the turn to 225 and exited as soon as I could, I don’t like to drive that stretch whilst protected in the beast, much less on the bike. Rode the streets of Lomax for a few minutes, then decided to visit one of the couples in our class that hadn’t been there in a while. Good visit, I’m pretty confident they will be there this week. Funny how people just sometimes need attention. That family needs prayer and discipliine more than anything else.
While I was at there house, I could hear the bells from the church signalling that it was 6:00 pm. So, off I went to the church for Tuesday night outreach. The usual suspects were there. I think by now that this group has bonded since it is so small. FR wasn’t there, very unusual, Pop will call him today to check in. I had missed 2 weeks because of the back and it felt good to be there. Pop and I struck out at both houses we went to, nobody home.
Man, it gets dark early! Off I rode on the Marauder, just like the night rider. Went by the guy’s house where I bought the bike and picked up the title. Told him again about our church and invited him. I’d be surprised if he didn’t bring his family at least once. I’ll send someone else by there next week, then follow up later.
So there it is. Feeling much, much better, only took a half hour to get moving this morning. I can see light at the end of the tunnel! Late.
