at SU’s work Christmas party. Seems to be a nice group of people, this was the first time I had met all but one couple. It was held at an upscale Italian restaurant on the west side. Still haven’t figured out how that managed to make pumpkin/ricotta ravioli taste that good.
SU looked stunning tonight, she is a beautiful woman. As we are to celebrate our 25th year of marriage on Monday, I gave her a small gift prior to the party, a sapphire/diamond butterfly necklace. It looked so awesome on her, but the truth is she radiates with inner beauty even more so than the external. Although, being very much a heterosexual male and very much a visual heterosexual male, it’s easy to overlook the inner beauty as the necklace lay between her…..oh, nevermind, it’s way too early to get all worked up!
The party went longer than I had anticipated but SU was still ready for adventure, so we arrived at Anderson Fair after 11 pm. Paul Geremia was into his last set, so the door guy let us in for 5 bucks each. We heard about 40 minutes of the set and it was so easy to get drawn into another place, another time. He played songs from Blind Blake, Charlie Patton, Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt and an original or two. His slide playing IS Robert Johnson, he nailed Crossroads, which is a Blind Blake song but most of us know it from Robert Johnson’s recording in the early 60’s. I know that this type of music isn’t SU’s favorite but she allowed me to indulge. Had the Lumix with me, Anderson Fair is a very hard place to take good photos (I’m not much of a flash user) but here’s an attempt:
