Had a really nice

David Jennings · February 3, 2006 · 5 Comments

evening yesterday. One of the guys from my class, BH, came over to play the guitar. He is just learning, a real rookie, even behind where I was a year ago. It’s hard to believe that it was almost a year ago that I decided to start playing the guitar. For real. My goal was to be able to lead worship songs at church and I met that goal. Of course I’m no virtuoso, but then again, that wasn’t my goal. I’m comfortable enough with where I am as a player to lead music every Sunday and that is that. I do hope to improve and be able to use my Telecaster in public, but that is just icing on the cake, not a goal at this point.

Anyways, back to last night, we had a great time. Played (hmm, might have to relax the definition there) a few worship songs, an Eagles song and a Garth Brooks song. Showed him how to play a 12 bar blues standard in E. Talked about life, family and church. Nice stuff. Kinda how JM and I used to do up at the old church building.

Been working on my guitar room a bit. Got a couple of hangers up and they look really good. Ordered 3 more this morning. Got to use my laser level and stud finder! Wow, before you know it, I’ll be a regular handyman (SU is probably rolling her eyes at this point).

Late.

It’s interesting that you mentioned our bull/jam sessions at the old church. I’ve been thinking that we should get back to some version of that. I just don’t get much time to practice at home these days. Let’s talk about it Sunday.
