Have you ever seen the rain,

David Jennings · January 31, 2007 · 3 Comments

comin’ down on a sunny day? I don’t freakin’ care, I just want to see some sun!

Very long day at the plantation, I’m starting to wonder if my hatred for rain is affecting my emps. I think that SU is right when she says I must’ve been locked out in the rain as a small child. Nothing else explains it, unless it is some type of gov’t/media/military/judicial conspiracy stuff.

Overall a good day I suppose. Really enjoying Lonestartimes paying me 23 figures to post there. I get some really cool emails, perhaps someday, I’ll share a few. There are some whacko’s out there. DB warned me that a few would do that, well, he was right.

Think I’ll skip church tonight, just not in the mood. DB (uh, oh, different DB) gave me a Stevie Ray compilation, I think I’ll just chill to that.

DB from here on out will be the LST guy. DBoi will be the plantation guy. Late.

Just a good natured—but snarky–post away from the madding crowd.

    This:

is no BB Gun. It costs $700 more than the real one I have. The median price for these is $300. I know that LEO’s and Reservists engage in this hobby for the training it provides beyond what they normally encounter, and these types of “BB Guns” are regularly used in official training as well because of the safety factor and costs involved in using live ammuntion.

A couple years ago, an Armor Captain—a West Point Graduate–tell me that he does it “Because we don’t get into the field enough.” That was before OIF, and I’m sure he’s gotten his fill of the field by now, but that’s not the point—

The point is that the hysteria being generated is likely to have some unintended consequences—one of them being the possiblity of abridgement of 2nd amendment rights. Neither is it an honorable pursuit to overblow facts, to claim knowledge of facts not in evidence, or to engage in demagogery—and I fear far too much of that is going on with the “Border Issue.” Sanity and cogent thought leading to a coherent starategy will win the day—not hysterical reaction. When certain Conspricay Nuts can gain credibility based on thier stance on this issue alone, it’s time to step back and see what hath been wrought.

Would I spend $300 on something that doesn’t go “bang?”

I think it’s insane. But that doesn’t mean I’d deny these guys the right to do it.

And the best place to engage in this kind of hobby is in as remote a location as you can find, not near any populated areas.

Not trying to pull you in at all. In fact I went to bed almost immediately after that post.

“Twas merely food for thought ’tis all.
