I keep looking at the weather

David Jennings · October 13, 2006 · 1 Comment

forecast for tomorrow, hoping that the rain will stay away until late afternoon. The boys and I will be heading out on another iron horse ride to check out the Hogg plantation and New Gulf, a ghost town from the 40’s.

Haven’t got to ride the Marauder much this week because of the weather, so I’m really looking forward to it. I have just over 1,200 miles under my belt now and a short ride in the rain, so I’ll be okay if it jumps up and surprises us. Ran the numbers on the mileage and economics:

Miles – 1,237
Avg MPG – 38
Avg $ per mile (gas $2.10) – $0.055
Total Fuel Cost – $68.36

Beast Cost (diesel $2.50) – $171.81

Fuel Savings – $103.45

That ain’t chump change, as they say.
