make a blanket statement that church is good and let it serve for awhile but that would take the fun out of it. Once again, I enjoyed church today, good time singing with the guitars, overall good class (more on that) and I don’t recall hearing the pastors sermon before (after all these years, that is unusual). Even got to sing on the big stage in big church; singing backup to RSa with another guy, not nerve-wracking like doing it alone. No idea if anyone can hear me or not but I do think that it helps RSa right now with his struggles, so what the heck.
I need to work on my material in class, I don’t think it went over too well. You know what? That ALWAYS happens when I prepare too much. Weird. I think maybe I read too much material, then get confused when I try to form my own thoughts and no one can follow me. Maybe. Then again, maybe it’s time for someone else to step into that role. But I was really glad to hear PC open up a little and let us know about himself; he’s a cancer survivor for two years, has had a heart attack and will start chemo this week for another battle with cancer. I’m glad that the atmosphere is such that he felt he could let us know that. Leading a group of men is not easy and telling a group of men who, for all practical purposes are strangers, that kind of intimate detail is just as hard.
Well, BIL continues to amaze. Just amaze. SU just got off the phone with his sister, he is speaking in full sentences, is answering some lifestyle questions from his doctors, aware and get this: they got him out of that bed and he took 4 steps. Today. A week after he was laying on a bed in Clear Lake, not breathing on his own, bloated like he backed into a nitrogen valve. Less than three days after SU called and was crying about how he looked, so old and frail. Less than 48 hours after he sat up and said, “I love you Dave”. I think it must have been the awful guitar playing, he simply couldn’t bear to hear it and wants to give me lessons again. Amazing, simply amazing. At this point, it looks like he will leave the ICU tomorrow, going to a regular room. SU expects that he will be out of the hospital by the end of the week. Amazing, simply amazing.
Maybe not a supernatural miracle, but amazing. Simply amazing.
