I think that today

David Jennings · July 30, 2006 · Leave a Comment

I have a more complete understanding of the phrase “it’s the journey, not the destination”. All week, I focused and worried about the service this morning, specifically opening the service with a non-traditional number with an electric guitar. And all week long, I practiced and practiced, tried different guitars and effects and practiced some more. Then, today, it came and went. I couldn’t hear a thing, the monitoring system is not so good, all I could hear was my voice acoustically. Didn’t even think the guitar was on. Turns out it was and I suppose the song went over allright. But the thing is, upon reflection, it was the week of playing it and thinking about it that was the fun part! And I got a lot of comments about the way the Washburn J-3 looks.

I thought the service went well. Lots of music today, more than normal. But I liked it. Late.
