one of the best Thanksgivings ever. Totally relaxing, no stress, tons of good food, lots of family time, what more could a jolly fella ask for?
Well, to be perfectly honest, one could ask that the Bigjolly not let the heat get away from him, turkeys are peculiar birds, if you miss it by 5°, you’re going to dry the bird out. And so I did. Of course, this just makes the dark meat taste better – hey, you gotta look on the bright side of life! And my beans turned out pretty good, just about the right temperature to remind you that you don’t want to visit Hades!
Everything else turned out mucho goodo (or in pig latin I suppose it would read chomu dogoo). The sweet potatoes with pecan topping were most excellent! As were the traditional turkey, gravy, cornbread dressing, rice dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, german chocolate pie, pecan pie, apple pie, oatmeal pie, rolls, chips, dips and whatever else made it down the chute. Can you say Pepcid?
The family was in a fine mood today, no bickering, snickering or anyone trying to start any of that stuff. Just a good time by all, most even stayed longer than the usual 15 minutes. Makes me look forward to the Christmas gathering. Heck, Pop didn’t even bug me about blowing off visitation and church this week.
