today, I decided to play with another distro of Linux. I d/l’d an ISO of Mepics, then did a completely new install on the old box upstairs. Way cool. This is the way to go for Windows users, it is very similar. It’s running the 2.6 kernal very fast, much better than the Debian version. It also has the latest Quicktime codecs so that I can see Dave Weiner’s Live Acoustic Solo (awesome). You can run it from a CD without even installing it to get a flavor for Linux, much like Knoppix. I’m telling you, Microsoft is going to feel pressure from Linux sooner or later.
