Saturday for a couple of reasons. First is that it didn’t flood here again, although I did drive through some rain. I managed to have time to work on the pool, had to remove a broken PVC adapter that the robot hooks up to. Got that repaired and working again, cleaned out the filter, etc. Hope to be swimming again by Tuesday.
Last night, SU, 1 and I enjoyed a nice evening at home. We watched the movie The Nativity, the movie from last year about Mary and Joseph. It felt kind of odd thinking about that in July. Overall, it was a decent movie, in traditional portrayals of Mary and Joseph you don’t see realistic interplay between them as a couple.
Does God speak? Simple answer is yes, as He did yesterday. After heading to the pool supply store, I decided to go to Guitar Center off Nasa 1 to purchase some strings. Didn’t really need them but just started thinking about getting a couple of sets. Didn’t feel like changing strings, it’s not like I don’t have 4 or 5 guitars sitting around with new strings on them.
So anyways, I’m headed to Guitar Center and pass a LTAC (long term acute care) facility. Started remembering a conversation at church last week about an elderly church member being in a LTAC and the name of this one rang a bell. Drove by and went to Guitar Center but just couldn’t get that out of my mind.
I purchase a couple sets of Elixir Nanoweb lights and custom lights and head back to the trailer park. Pass the same LTAC, the urge is really strong now to go see this man. Turn around, pull in the parking lot, enter the facility and ask for him. No one by that name.
As I’m leaving, I still feel this desire to visit him. It happens that there is another LTAC down the street from this one, so I check that out, even though it doesn’t feel right. Nope, no one there by that name. So I leave and as I’m passing the first one, a wave comes over me, once again, I need to visit him.
I pull back in the parking lot and call Pop. Ask him what LTAC the man is in, tell him the name and he says yes, he heard that he had been transferred there. I tell him that I’ve already been in and no one is there by that name. He says, try WGS, that is his full name. Doh! Of course. I know him by his middle name, he’s listed under his first name.
Go back in and the receptionist is smiling, realizing what has happened. She directed me to the correct room and I had a wonderful visit. When I ask how he’s doing, he tells me that besides his heart failing, his liver failing, his kidneys failing and his lungs not working, he’s great! Had to laugh with him on that.
I told him that I was going to have the opportunity to lead worship Sunday night and he apologized, said he probably wouldn’t make it but that he would be there in spirit. As I was leaving, I asked him if there was anything specific that he wanted me to pray for. He answered, just pray that God’s will be done.
As I left the building with tears in my eyes, the question again popped into my mind: does God speak? Doh!
