It’s kind of frustrating

David Jennings · April 5, 2006 · 3 Comments

to think you understand society and how it works, then to find out that it isn’t as it seems. All our lives we have been told that we have freedom of expression in the USA but I’m wondering if that only applies to certain people or groups and is not in fact universal. For instance, I ranted the other day about Mexicans or people of Mexican descent marching in the streets of the USA with flags from the country of Mexico. It ticked me off then and still does today. So, I’m thinking, it’s my journal, I’ll write what I think and BAM! Now quite a few people are ticked off at me. I’ve received emails from across the spectrum, mostly hateful, some understanding the rant.

One person says I’m not a Christian or I wouldn’t have those thoughts. Well, excuse me. Is it wrong to want to protect our nations economy? I mean, if illegals aren’t affecting our economy, fine, argue that. But to tell me that Christians shouldn’t be concerned is just wrong. I think this person was not a regular reader and probably doesn’t understand the framework I have for making over the top remarks. Most likely, a Google or Yahoo search brought them here. I fully understand that my “style” of writing isn’t English professor approved.

Another person tells me that they were offended because I repeatedly used the word “Mexican” and it made them think that I was racist and demeaning all Mexicans. I don’t understand that complaint at all, it just doesn’t register with me. I read the rant (typically, I never read what I type) and thought that the usage was correct but hey, who am I?

And another thought I was vulgar, using the term “gonads” and “physically sickened”. Christians shouldn’t talk that way and after reading some of my posts, it was obvious that I was “pretending” to be a Christian and should stop with the act. What do I say to that?

And others of similar patterns. I really had no idea that Google or Yahoo searches would find me like that. Oh well. Hey, it’s just me and I’m just a guy trying to make it through life on a positive note. And when I read that American schools are banning the Red, White and Blue, it ticks me off. Or that arrogant congresspersons think that they are above the law, it ticks me off. For politically correct color balance, I should point out that this guy should be castrated, no telling what he’s done and gotten away with. And for another example of the arrogance in politics, I turn to none other than my own congressional representative. Elsewhere, a kid does the right thing and is suspended. Late.

I too found the original post offensive and beneath you. I think the problem, at least for me, was the fact that it sounded so hateful and was directed at generalized groups of people rather than the individuals or policies that have caused the problem.

I think the Mexican post was “right on”…it is time for Americans to restore and preserve our culture and values…time to stop letting Mexicans (and that is what people from Mexico are called just as people from America are called Americans) say and do whatever they wish without consequence. Where were the student protestors on the weekend??? Oh, yes, they were home in bed asleep…no school to “skip” to make a statement…
I say clear out the illegals, give out the 10,000 work visas America allows each year and see what happens to our economy..
Keep blogging, Bro…ignore jm who says this post was beneath you..not hardly!
