Please don’t say

David Jennings · April 23, 2006 · Leave a Comment

it is so. Please don’t let the gov’t screw with gasoline prices! Please! Even though the WP is reporting it here, please don’t say it is so! The very last thing we need is for a return to Jimmy Carters inept style of government, as noted here, a commentary almost a year old.

The best way to lower gasoline prices is to reduce consumption, period. In the above commentary, Walter Williams recommends more drilling, well, that is good in the short term, but eventually, we need to reduce unnecessary consumption. I’m not talking about outlawing SUV’s or air conditioning. I’m talking about little things, things that add up quickly. Like leaving your lights on. Like those little green or red LED’s that are on everything we purchase (add that up, you’d be amazed). Little bitty things that combined are big wastes of energy. But as long as we are willing to pay for it, the demand will keep the prices high. And yes, a few of the gov’t regulations add quite a bit to the cost with no impact upon the environment, just part of the bureaucracy.

Just DON’T bring back Jimmy Carter!!! Please!!!
