today, so I’m writing a bit more than normal. Did I mention that my boss quit? Or was forced out, not sure which. Looks to me like a political battle at the home office, glad I’m not there. But it will affect me because he brought me in. So, who knows what is next? Bummer, great job. Gotta remember that verse about the birds and flowers being clothed and fed so’s that I don’t get all down and such.
For all of the extended family chaos, home is where the heart is, at least in my case. Sent SU some flowers for Mother’s Day, couldn’t think of anyone I’d rather have be a mom to my kids. 1 seems to be adjusting to life sans thyroid. She got the big camp job she wanted and will be heading out soon. Pretty amazing girl. 2 will be headed home this weekend for the summer. Gonna chill (for what, 30 seconds?), be an intern at the local newsrag, take a class at the local CC (ahem, ordinary people would think this is a blow off class, trust me when I tell you that 2 will treat it like a grad level core requirement) and who knows what else. Pretty amazing girl.
Reading another novel with the Lucas Davenport character, Broken Prey. Used my downtime from not attending Wednesday night Bible study to read quite far into it last night. I recall reading the first of the Davenport series but haven’t read many others. The characters are pretty much fully developed by now and you can kind of predict their tendencies. That is why series novels are attractive, I think.
Started in on The Party of Death this morning (yeah, yeah, I know it was Bible study time). Just read through the intro, scanned the contents and sorta got an overview by paging through it. Abortion is such a travesty and has lead to so many other atrocities by cheapening and softening our view of the sanctity of human life.
Hope to read another chapter in Posers, Fakers and Wannabes at lunch, although I brought the little Hohner HF-75 with me to work again, so I just might be caught sitting by the bayou playing Folsom Prison Blues.
Also been reviewing my blog stats today. Kinda hard to imagine so many people clicking onto Bigjolly, never would’ve predicted that. Noticed that my number 1 read post was Mask, with the number 2, Notebook, nipping at the heels. Strange to go back and read things that I write, oftentimes it’s like reading something someone else wrote. Especially something like Notebook, which is almost a year old now. Or this one, So Many Things.
Trips down memory lane. SSh and I were just conversing via email about that, I think I’ll write about it. Late.
