display this morning told me that I had missed a call. Of course I did, SU is out of town and I didn’t get out of bed on time. But this call was way more than an ordinary call. No, it was a call that I lamented would never come again not so long ago, a call I deeply cherished, for it was BIL calling for our morning chat. We talked about a lot of things this morning, a bit longer than usual. About how life is hard. About his frequent talks now with his son in California. About his spouse that is going to undergo surgery this week to repair her shoulder. About the two guys at church buying guitars. About the mistaken doctrine espoused in the Left Behind series. About how when life is hard, what a blessing it is to have someone reach out and touch you. About one of my class members who does just that, shows up at the door and says, hey, how’s it going today? About neighbors taking the time to bring them food because neither one is able to function in the kitchen.
About stuff. And about how fragile life is and we have to appreciate every moment we have. And how we need to let those around us know how much we appreciate them. And how we need to touch those around us in a caring, loving way. And how we need to lead those around us to a personal relationship with Jesus.
Don’t take life for granted. Reach out and touch someone today.
