in Dayton, Texas tonight. SU is leading a group of women from Midway Baptist Church in a weekend “retreat”, a time of reflection, introspection and renewal of hope, faith and joy. I was privileged to play and sing for a bit to start the first session off and I’ll return tomorrow for the next two. First time I’ve been to Ray’s church, he was a sojourner in my class for a bit. Now he’s the pastor there, something he’s dreamed of for years. I must say that the people I met were very pleased with him and Karon, with the work they are doing.
SU has put much effort and time into this project, many months actually. I do think that it is her life’s work, to mentor and disciple women. It was very awkward at first, but I’m pretty certain that the outcome will bear the fruit of her labor. And it was so awesome to see the four women from MBC that came to support and lift her up during this time. I was planning on staying up there with her tonight but thought that it would be more of a blessing if she were able to stay with the support group without the stress of being a wife. Just a woman enjoying the fruits of her labor. For some reason, I think that the harvest from this particular time will be greater than we anticipate. Late.
