tonight, Rear Window, a 50’s flick by Hitchcock starring Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly. Way cool, I’d forgotten how much “harder” it is to watch a movie that is mostly dialogue and expression, not relying solely on special effects and technology to keep your attention. I mean, you really get absorbed with the characters and different lives in this flick. I loved it when, in talking about Jimmy, one of the characters tells him he doesn’t get more excited about a petting party than he does a civil service exam. Ya gotta be my age or older to get that one.
I guess I should mention that I joined Netflix yesterday. And BAM!, just like that, I have 3 movies in the mailbox today. Now that is service. The empty nest thing might be getting to me, especially since I don’t watch TV except on very, very rare occasions – think hurricane. Anyways, I logged in to their site and there are so many choices! My “queue” is littered with movies from the 50’s and 60’s plus SRV and U2 concerts.
I have an ISO audit at the plantation tomorrow, pretty much the same excitement as watching grass grow. I need to go see some live music! Quickly.
Speaking of music, The Dude put up a few clips from his experimentation with his new Roland Fantom. They’re pretty good, you can check them out here: Akelas Biggins. Just think – you can say you heard his clips before he became a star!
Netflix??? You will be watching a lot of movies!! Don’t neglect the blogging!! HA HA
You have my deepest, heartfelt sympathy on that one. February is my month in the barrel at work (to give the ISO meeting). I’m thinking of addressing the question of whether rigid adherence to ISO is more help or hindrance to creative thought. So I may find myself searching for a job shortly. On second thought, maybe I should just take the “paying my taxes” approach to the meeting: just be a good chap and get with the program and don’t ask questions. That’s probably more realistic.
I saw that movie for the first time a couple of months ago =D.
