Early voting that is. Yup, went down yesterday afternoon and cast my ballot for Kinky. Just kidding. I voted for Carole Strayhorn in the governors election for a lot of reasons and not all of them against Perry. As I read more about her, there were some things that I liked, which struck me as unusual in this day and age of voting against someone rather than for someone. I like the fact that she is against the Trans Texas Corridor and has been since day one. I like that she has been elected to a lot of smaller positions in government, not trying to get to the top right out of the gate. Although not rabidly against abortion as I am, she is against it. Sure, there are some things I don’t like but heck, I don’t like some things about myself. At the end of the day, I just couldn’t vote for Gov. Perry (not the devil but didn’t do the job IMHO), Chris Bell (abortions for stem cell research?) or Kinky Friedman (zero experience, leans far left on most issues). So, I’m happy with Ms. Strayhorn, go get ’em.
“Write In” votes are a total misnomer on these stupid voting machines. If you are going to run as a write in, your name should be something like Ed Jones or Ed Smith. NOT Shelley Sekula Gibbs. Took longer to do that than it did to vote the other 12 pages.
Voted against Orlando Sanchez on principle alone. That guy seems slimy to me.
Voted against Lt. Gov. Dewhurst (as if he cares), voted Libertarian in that one.
All others went to the Repubs.
Maybe John Kerry will help the Repubs at the national level. He’s not too bright himself.
