Well, today was the day that

Hero got the official notification – his tour of duty in Iraq has been extended. Major bummer, really kinda sucks given that he’s already served 3 tours and had a stop loss extension. He was supposed to be home in July. 1 is really upset, can you imagine the emotions involved? If I had to pick a single thing to complain about the military’s handling of the conflict in Afghanistan and Iraq, it would be the way they handle personnel. Obviously, there are many areas to choose from but that would be mine. So we will have to continue to pray for him and his safety.

The plantation didn’t run very smoothly today, trucking is a major pain these days. And it will get worse during the busy season. Not a single truck was on time today, one finally made it but was rejected for cleanliness issues and one never made it. Hard to satisfy our customers on these days.

DB had more trouble getting his bank to cash the Cashier’s Check for the guitar, that took a lot of time. Of course, as it is my account on Ebay, I had to take control and calm things down. Why are people so quick to rachet up tension? Everyone has protocols to follow, why do some people think that they are above protocol? At any rate, he finally has cash in hand and I’ll ship the guitar tomorrow. Five grand for a guitar. Dang.

I received a couple of very, very nice emails today. One was from Mr. Given, father of Nathan, including pictures from Iraq and a very touching email about Nathan from his First Sergeant. Very touching. And another email from the wife of LCpl. Estrada’s commander. Reading these makes you realize how special our military personnel are. Thank God for them.

As I was typing this, I received yet another Patriot Guard notification for SE Texas. It just makes you want to cry.
