What a great night

David Jennings · July 8, 2005 · Leave a Comment

tonight! We went to a Phil Keaggy concert and it was way cool! It is pretty incredible what he can do with a single guitar, a MidiDigitizer and several effects pedals. Wow. I’m impressed. So much for me playing the guitar, I might as well use the ones I have as boat anchors. Guess it is a good thing I said early on that my sole purpose in playing the guitar was to strum a few praise songs, nothing more.

Good thing it was a great night because my day at work wasn’t so great. I was driving the ship by myself today and hit a few sandbars. Then, we had to get an “emergency” load out (Friday afternoon, what else should I expect) and Bam!, the rain starts. With the rain came the electrical storm, which knocked out our electricity. Three times! Each time I had almost completed the computer side of the order and Bam!, there it goes again. Frustrating! Didn’t leave until after five o’clock. Of course this had to happen on the only day I something planned other than being in the pool by 4:30.

So’s, I’m finally headed home and going north on 146 when I’m completely stopped in traffic. Takes me 25 minutes to go from 517 to 646, a distance of about 3 miles. When I finally get to the traffic signal at 646, I see the problem. There has been a wreck! Well, wreck is probably the wrong word. How’s about bump? Yeah, that’s better. The problem is that this signal is part of Bacliff’s jurisdiction. And wouldn’t you know it, they have hired Barney Fife as their one and only officer. Barney has the entire turning and left lanes blocked for his “investigation”, leaving the thousand commuters stuck wondering what the heck is going on. HPD would have blown by this without bothering to look, Pasadena would have pushed them off the road and said goodbye, even Shoreacres (which has it’s own problems) wouldn’t have given this the time of day. But Andy must’ve trained Barney right, ’cause he’s going to get all the facts, Jack. About the only good thing about it was that by the time I moved up to the bump, the clouds opened up and soaked ‘ol Barney! Hahahaha. Late.
