What an incredible way

David Jennings · December 18, 2006 · Leave a Comment

to start the day! An appropriate headline after my last post. Yes, today I was stranded on the side of the road. The Beast let me down. 228,873 miles and it let me down. Had a nice chat with the wrecker driver.

Who cares? Life is good. Today is the 25th anniversary of wedded bliss to my lovely spousal unit, SU. Life is very, very good. And how did we celebrate? Well, continuing the weekend, we dropped 1 and hero off at IAH, then drove up to Austin to have lunch with 2 and watch her qualification test for her yellow belt in Kajukenbo. That was a blast watching her wrestle, kick, hit, yell, etc. Kinda hard to take when the black belt she was sparring with accidentally (I think) kicked her in the solar plexis and knocked her breath away. But, she got her breath back and continued on. And qualified!

Now, I know that most of the people in the trailer park think that this is a strange way to spend your 25th anniversary. You know, what about Hawaii? Alaska? Cozumel? Bermuda, France, the Alps, any one of a thousand places? Why in the world would we spend the weekend with our kids?

Because that is the fruit of our marriage! That is what makes us whole! Our children are beautiful creations that God allowed us to share in the details of raising them. How could sipping a latte in France be better than watching 2 get the crap beat out of her? Or watching 1 laughing the night away with the hero? They complete the circle that is our life and what an awesome life it is!

Butterflies are to SU what diamonds are to Liz Taylor. On our walk around the trailer park Saturday, a butterfly found us and begged us to share in his moment.
