While driving to work

David Jennings · June 1, 2006 · 1 Comment

this morning, I listened to a story about the eminent domain farce wherein the Supreme Court ruled, in a 5-4 lib v. cons decision, that it was okay for corrupt city officials to seize your land and give it to your neighbor. Well, actually, not YOUR neighbor, but one that they thought was a better citizen and would give them more tax revenue.

Every time I hear that case discussed, I get sick to my stomach. Talk about everything you’ve ever read or heard about America being washed down the drain! It is wholly unbelievable to me that this is happening in America. I hope that the people continue to ignore the ruling and get evicted on national TV, just so that people can WAKE UP and see what is happening to our dreams.

Hours after the Supremes gave us this pile of garbage as law, Freeport, TX officials moved to seize property held by a seafood company so that their friends could “develop” a private marina. This isn’t some large, international conglomerate, of course, this is a small, family business that has been around for more than 50 years. Paying taxes. Providing jobs.

Okay, so I’m not supposed to worry about things, I know that. But, can’t I be concerned about the future of this country for my children? Without compromising my beliefs?
